Council for Medical Schemes has approved the merger of Resolution and National Independent Medical Aid Society (NIMAS) as of August 1st, 2012.
The rationale for the merger is the following:
- Improved solvency ratio
- Better spread patient age profile
- Better product (includes hospital plan)
- Reduced need for increase in member contributions
- Access to larger network.

Hi Samantha
Premiums are “normally” established once a year, and AFAIK most medical aids have to obtain regulator (CMS) approval before upping their premiums.
Take care
