Impact of Load Shedding
From the Desk of
Fudley Bezuidenhout Pr.Eng.
Let’s face it: Load Shedding is painfully disruptive. It is inconvenient, and to those who are commercially active, it costs money big-time.
WHEN AND HOW WILL YOUR AREA BE AFFECTED?
Consult the Eskom Schedule here:
HOW TO PREVENT DAMAGE?
Switch off sensitive electronic equipment BEFORE the Blackout. This includes computers, routers, printers and anything else connect directly to the supply.
Wait at least 10 minutes until AFTER the Blackout before switching equipment back on.
HOW TO PREVENT DATA LOSS?
Install a decent sized Uninterruptable Power Supply.
Make 3-generation cyclical backups diligently and without fail.
The blackouts we are experiencing is proof once again, in South Africa we are not yet ready to keep out store patient records either electronically or in the cloud. Forget the hype. Retain your manual patients cards or folders.
Take care or yourself, staff and your practice.
