Bankmed to be administered by Discovery Health (Pty) Ltd from 1 January 2016

We are pleased to inform you that from 1 January 2016, Bankmed will be administered by Discovery Health (Pty) Ltd.

We would like to ensure that healthcare professionals and Bankmed members experience a seamless transition in claiming under the new administrator. We have therefore provided you with information that will assist you when submitting claims for Bankmed members, from 1 January 2016.

Bankmed membership cards

In order for your patients to identify themselves as valid Bankmed members, they will be in possession of membership cards with the identifying Bankmed logo.

Submitting claims to Discovery Health

Claims with a service date up to 31 December 2015

You may submit claims with a service date up to 31 December 2015 to the previous administrator – Metropolitan Health – as you have always done. You will have five months in which to submit claims with a service date until the end of December 2015 to Metropolitan Health. There will be no payment for any claims we receive after this five-month period.

Claims with a service date from 1 January 2016

Please submit claims for Bankmed members to Discovery Health from 1 January 2016, with the exception of the following claims:

Basic Plan

* Optometry claims must be submitted to Iso Leso Optics

Traditional and Comprehensive plans

* Optometry claims must be submitted to PPN

Planned hospital admissions

Discovery Health will transfer all approved 2016 hospital admissions of Bankmed members to its administration database.
